On the side, I teach classes in computer-aided drafting, and every once in a while, I’ll get someone who will ask if they can have one of my students draw up the plans for the addition to their house. Legalities aside, I ask them if they really want to risk their special project to someone just learning the ropes? Spend a couple percent more and get a professional (architect) who will ensure that the rest of the investment is money well spent.
The same goes for capturing your wedding, event, or special time in the life of your child. Many people don’t hire a professional photographer, assuming it will cost too much for the shoot (a.k.a., “sitting fee”) or that they’ll be gouged for prints at the end. What they don’t realize is how affordable the services can be and the value of the final product(s).
So give me a try—send me an email and let’s talk! You’ll find it’s a lot less expensive than you think. A typical wedding commission starts at $1400 and includes an engagement session plus a generous “print credit” (for professional, archival-quality prints, albums, gallery-wrap canvas, etc.).
If we get to talking and determine that I’m not your guy, I’m more than happy to recommend other photographers whose work and pricing matches your needs. I am part of communities of photographers, whose work is truly photographically inspirational, from whom I am continually learning new things and getting new ideas.
